We've all seen them. Everybody is doing them. I follow several people that are doing a June Photo Challenge right now. I've been intrigued, yet haven't started one. You all know by know that I do not like the pressure of doing something EVERY DAY. This makes a daily photo challenge an issue. Another problem I have is that I notice all of the challenges mid-month. I can't seem to find one before the month starts.
That is, until today.
Today I created a Pinterest board for Photo Challenges and scoured Pinterest for Photo Challenge links. I wanted to have a reserve of ideas before a month starts so I'd be ahead of the game. After pinning 22 different pins, the project that stood out to me the most was
According to Project 64, this is how they described their project: "We are hoping to take the crayons out of the box for a little inspiration in our photographic work! Each week we will be assigned a color, chosen at random from a box of 64 count crayola crayons. We will then take our color inspiration and search for it in the world around us! You'd be surprised by the colors you miss when you're not looking!"
This seems right up my alley. I love the idea of using a color as inspiration to notice the world around us. When I was taking an art course last fall, we had to sketch 3 times a day every day. As annoying as it was, it really did help bring back the inspiration I had been lacking in my creativity.
You should also know by now that I can't just follow a simple plan laid out in front of me. I have to make changes to tweak it for myself. Instead of using the crayons as a weekly inspiration, I'm going to use them daily on a more random basis. (You see how I took the pressure off of myself? "Random" translates to "whenever I want instead of on set days. Whew!)
I will be starting my challenge tomorrow to see where this box of Crayola crayons takes me. Would you care to join me? If you'd like to join in the fun, comment below and let me know if there's interest in adding a link up. I'd be happy to add one so we can all have fun.
