Hello, lovelies.
I hope you had a delightful Christmas.
I know I certainly did.
Part of last week was spent at Papa's
with his wife and family and Sis and her family.
The other part of the week was spent here in town helping Sis out and getting things done around the house with a dash of relaxation.

I took a social media break last week and boy howdy did it feel good.
I never thought I'd be someone that loved being disconnected, but I am!
I'm going to do my best to stay connected in 2013 without being attached.
You all know what I mean by that.

Now on to today's post.
I'm sharing with you some of my top 3's in a few different categories.

Top 3 Personal Moments of 2012
1) Sis and her family moving to Tulsa.
I love being a part of their daily lives, especially Grant's.
2) Auntie P coming to Tulsa to visit!
We made so many memories I'll cherish for a long time.
3) Meeting Michael.
I'm not one for a lot of sap on here so I'll leave it at that.

2) Justin Bieber.
3) Any Kardashian except Khloe.  She's the only exception.

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and happy New Year's Eve.
How are you celebrating tonight?

"Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas."
- Calvin Coolidge

This year, my wish to you is for you to enjoy hugs, memories, and laughter for those really are the gifts we cherish in the years to come.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
Love, Jen

It's time to toot my own horn.
Are you ready?
You better be because here it comes, people...
Yesterday I made the most delicious chopped salad for our office holiday lunch.
No joke.
Another perk, it was super duper easy to make.
Win win.
Because I'm in the giving mood, and because I needed something to write about today, I'm sharing the recipe with all of you fine people.
You're welcome.

I have always loved Claim Jumper's Citrus Salad, but haven't lived near a Claim Jumper in years.  I tried to think of all the things I loved about that salad and made up my own version with a cranberry twist for the holidays.

Cranberry Citrus Chopped Salad
(makes 12 cups but the recipe is easily halved or multiplied)

1 head of iceberg lettuce, chopped
1 head of romaine lettuce, chopped
1/2 purple onion, diced
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 small can mandarin oranges, WELL drained (reserve part of the juice)
1 Granny Smith apple, chopped
1 avocado, chopped
2 oz. crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup candied pecan pieces
1 bottle cranberry balsamic dressing

Directions:  Pour out part of the dressing, added in some of the juice from the oranges to the bottle and shook it well to give the dressing more of a citrus twist.  Here's the hard part, put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix it up.  Seriously, that's it!

Tips:  If you can't find cranberry balsamic in your grocery store, you can use any type of fruity dressing on this salad as a substitute.  Also, I got my dried cranberries from the bulk food section instead of buying a big bag by the raisins and I saved about $3.

I will certainly be taking this to the Christmas dinner next week.
What's your favorite potluck recipe?

(If you've never seen the Eddie Murphy Gumby Christmas skit you won't know that's what inspired my post title today.)

For some reason I've just not been in the Christmas spirit like I was last year.
Maybe it was my school work load or the warmer than normal weather or the craziness at work...but this girl just hasn't been feeling the ol' Christmas spirit.
Because of this issue, I had done VERY LITTLE shopping to prepare for the impending doom...I  I KID!  I had about 1/3 of my shopping done but realized I just had last weekend to get it all done before I leave town next weekend.

So, I called Sis, told her I was going to be a woman on a mission to get it all done on Saturday and she was welcome to ride along and get her things done or she was on her own.  She opted to ride along.

Let me just tell you...
marathon Christmas shopping is NOT recommended.
Marathon Christmas shopping with a one year old is just asking for trouble.
What were we thinking?!!?!

Things started out great.  We headed out to BassPro to get Grant's pictures taken with Santa.  Some brilliant lady had the delightful idea to have Grant in footie pj's and a Santa hat.  He was sooooooo cute!
He loved every minute of his BassPro holiday experiment except the actual Santa part.  Here are some of the moments we captured.
He wasn't quite sure about
things as we  approached Santa.
This is him afterward looking back at Santa.
His look of apprehension was amazeballs.
Candy Canes make everything better.
He loved looking at all of the trees.
It's like the truck was screaming for a
little redheaded boy to jump inside!
So much cute I can hardly stand it.
Grant did SOOOO well shopping with us for 5 of the 7 hours.
Which is not bad at all given that he was strapped in a car seat for a lot of that time and hadn't had his nap.  Yep, the boy is an angel.
And let's be honest...Sis and I were at the end of our ropes the last two hours too.

But...I AM DONE!
Well, I realized I still need to get a present for Sis since she was with me and I still have to make several presents and wrap everything and ship them all...but I'M MOSTLY DONE so that counts, right?!

Sunday was time for the Sister Wife Super Bowl.
If I were ever going to be involved in a plural marriage it would be with my baby girl, Lauren.  Her only flaw is being a Cowboys fan.  I try not to hold it against her.  Yesterday was what we've started referring to as the Sister Wife Super Bowl.
Love that baby girl!
Michael and I met up with Lauren and her
husband, Joshua at Buffalo Wild Wings for the game.
The company was great, the food was delicious, and we even had some wonderful people watching like this guy...
He was in Green Bay head to toe.
No joke.
Hat, shirt, OVERALLS, wristbands, socks, shoes.
It was so eye catching.

How was your weekend?
